Johnny Depp and his longtime partner Vanessa Paradis have separated, according to a report by Entertainment Tonight.
The entertainment show says it received a statement today from Depp’s publicist reading, “Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis have amicably separated. Please respect their privacy and, more importantly, the privacy of their children.”
The report comes after months of rumors that the couple was headed for splitsville, which were denied by Depp, who reportedly said while promoting his film, “Dark Shadows,” "The rumors are not true. They are absolutely not true.”
People magazine ran a cover story back in January declaring the relationship was over, with the headline, “Love Gone Wrong” and “Johnny Depp Living Single.” The piece pointed out at the time that Depp, 48, and Paradis, 39 -- who have been together for 14 years, and have two kids Lily-Rose, 12, and Jack, 9 -- had not appeared together on a red carpet for over a year.
In early May reports surfaced that Depp was dating his “Rum Diaries” co-star Amber Heard, and that she was traveling with him while he promoted his next film, “Dark Shadows.”
But later in the month came word that Depp and Paradis were trying to work things out. E! News reported a source close to the couple saying of Depp, "For the first time in a long time, he is talking about her," the source tells E! News. "They both want to make it work."
Apparently things didn’t, and the separation was confirmed today.
Depp is currently filming a role as Tonto in a big-budget version of “The Lone Ranger.”Follow @PageSix
