THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- A man who claimed he was the tooth fairy lead cops on a high speed chase through Texas early today, myFOXHouston.com reported.
Police in The Woodlands area, near Houston, began chasing the suspect when they saw a truck that matched the description of a reported stolen vehicle speed past them at about 3:15 a.m.
An officer attempted to stop the truck as it traveled along Interstate 45 but the driver refused to pull over.
The truck then hit another vehicle but continued along the freeway.
Texas Department of Public Safety troopers along with officers from Houston, Montgomery County and Shenandoah police departments were involved in the dramatic chase as the truck crossed county lines.
The vehicle sped over three separate spike strips before its two front tires deflated.
When he was finally stopped, the suspect told a news photographer that he was the tooth fairy. He admitted drinking three beers earlier but claimed he borrowed the truck from a friend and added, "I feared for my life."
Houston police took the driver into custody and said the vehicle will be impounded.
