His Hamptons hangover continues.
Newly minted Knicks point guard Jason Kidd yesterday broke a nearly weeklong silence with a series of tweets apologizing for his allegedly drunken SUV smashup in the Hamptons.
“I regret any disruption my accident last weekend may have caused members of the community, and want to thank the local authorities,” Kidd tweeted yesterday. “I’d also like to thank my family and friends for their support.”
After whooping it up at a benefit and the nightclub SL East early Sunday morning, Kidd allegedly got behind the wheel of his silver Cadillac Escalade and totaled the car on a winding Water Mill road less than a quarter-mile from his mansion.
The collision knocked out cable, telephone and Internet service to neighbors in the well-to-do area, and Kidd was eventually booked for DWI after emerging nearly unscathed from the wreckage. He’s due back in court Sept. 12.
