Cape Cod kayaker Walter Szulc Jr. was surely sweating it out this weekend — he had a great white shark on his tail.

Szulc said everyone nearby was screaming for him to look back. The Manchester, NH, resident did — and then paddled like he’d never paddled before.

“So I looked behind me, and that’s when I saw the shark,” he told local news media. “It was a good size, and it had a fin sticking out, so I just turned and paddled.”

Szulc is breathing easier now — because he got away from the shark and will get a break from the weather that’s been crippling the East Coast for days.

New York temperatures are set to dip under 90 degrees today and tomorrow, thanks to a cold front that will push away the muggy air.
