Meet the TV movie version of “Tot Mom” Casey Anthony.
Canadian actress Holly Deveaux, 19, is set to play the infamously acquitted 26-year-old mother in Lifetime’s made-for-TV “Prosecuting Casey Anthony,” according to reports.
The movie is based on prosecutor Jeff Ashton’s best-selling book, “Imperfect Justice,” and will focus on his legal strategies during last summer’s trial and why Ashton believes Anthony is guilty despite her startling acquittal of all charges related to daughter Caylee’s death in 2008.
Anthony’s dialogue in the TV movie will be taken solely from the public record, producers say.
“It’s not our intention to make a movie that tries Casey Anthony for the third time,” screenwriter Alison Cross told the Orlando Sentinel. “She was tried in court and she was tried by public opinion.”
Rob Lowe has been cast to play Ashton and “The Office” star Oscar Nunez will play Anthony’s defense attorney, Jose Baez.
