THIS week we sent Kerran, a 24-year-old software developer, and Krys, a 25-year-old assistant to a CEO, to Flatiron’s Bounce Sporting Club. The pair bonded over TV shows and got cozy over complimentary shots. So, are these two ready to bounce into a relationship? Or is Krys thinking about passing on this one?
When Krys arrived, I hopped up to greet her with a handshake. She’s very cute and has a smile that put me at ease. Our conversation got off to a fantastic start — I mentioned being bummed about the early warm weather, as it meant an end to the ski season, and Krys told me she’s been snowboarding at one of the same mountains I’ve been to.
The conversation flowed naturally, and all the nerves quickly disappeared. It helped that the waitress brought over shots.
It was definitely a chuckle-filled night, which is always a good thing. I felt like she was having a good time and being genuine. I learned that she is quite the salsa dancer, and we talked about which “How I Met Your Mother” character we think we are. Overall, I thought it was a great first date. We exchanged numbers and hugged goodbye.
Since I was going into the date completely blind, I had no expectations and wasn’t nervous. My first impression of Kerran was that he was very friendly, but he’s not physically my type. I’m not sure how much we have in common, but that didn’t stop us from keeping the conversation going. We eventually launched into a discussion about “How I Met Your Mother,” which I enjoyed. We also talked about our shared interest in sports and dancing.
Overall, I liked that Kerran had a great sense of humor. He’s a fun guy, and I am interested in a platonic relationship.
