Powerhouses Grand Street Campus and George Washington will meet in the Class A final at 7 p.m. at MCU Park, home of the Brooklyn Cyclones, in a game full of star power and intrigue.
Fourth-seeded GW will be looking to become the first PSAL team to repeat as champions since Tottenville in 1986-87 while No. 2 Grand Street Campus is looking for its first crown. Gerry Gonzalez will get the ball for Grand Street while GW will go with either Edwin Corniel or Kevin Torres. The two teams met during the preseason and played to a 3-all tie; barring any Bug Selig cameos, we’ll have a winner on Friday.
Before the big boys take center stage, No. 1 South Bronx and No. 3 Queens Vocational Tech will face off in what has all the makings of a taut affair. The two teams combined to lose one game against PSAL foes this year and feature top pitchers and loaded lineups.
If you’re unable to make it to MCU Park on Friday, fear not: PSAL baseball beat writer Zach Braziller will be there to bring you all the action with our interactive live blog. Not just that, but esteemed colleague Joseph Staszewski will join him, helping with wall-to-wall coverage beginning at 3:45 p.m. As always, your comments, questions and critiques are welcome.
