The world got its first look at ABC Family's newest series, "The Lying Game," last night with the premiere of a 60 second preview that aptly aired during a "Pretty Little Liars" commercial break.
That's when I learned "Lying Game" focuses on long-lost twin sisters who reunite and switch lives only for one to go missing and the other forced to figure out where her sister vanished to.
A remarkably similar premise to "Ringer," a new CW show that welcomes Sarah Michelle Gellar back to television. In that series, estranged twin sisters reunite and when one goes missing, the other usurps her life and is forced to figure out where her sister vanished to.
Looks like the lead characters won't be the only twins banging around your box this year!
But given each show's built-in audience --"Lying" is based on a hugely successful series of YA novels (like "PLL" and "Gossip Girl" are), while "Buffy" provides "Ringer" with one of the most loyal fanbases in the world -- I have a feeling there will room in both your life and on your DVR!
Check out trailers for "Lying" and "Ringer" to see if I'm right.
"The Lying Game" premieres August 15 at 9pm on ABC Family while "Ringer" comes to The CW on September 13 at 9pm
