Madden NFL ’13 to feature Tebow-ing

The Tebow-ing phenomenon will hit consoles this summer.

According to Michael Young, a creative director for the Madden NFL franchise, this year’s installment will feature the signature pose of Jets quarterback Tim Tebow.

“Tebowing is in for #madden13,” Young tweeted in response to a question posted by another user.

Tebow, who outwardly professes his religious beliefs on and off the field, drops to one knee and places his elbow on his knee with his fist placed against his forehead as a celebration.

The Tebow-ing craze began last season when Tebow performed the pose following a Broncos overtime win against the Dolphins. Since the inaugural pose, thousands of pictures of people Tebow-ing have appeared on the Internet and it has inspired its own website.

The Jets acquired Tebow from Denver for draft picks this offseason to back up Mark Sanchez.

Introducing player or team-specific celebrations is not something new for the Madden franchise. In Madden NFL 2008, the game would occasionally show the Giants’ “Ballin’” celebration that the team popularized in the 2006-'07 season.

Madden NFL ’13 is scheduled for release on August 28.
